Talk about 'shaken babe syndrome'!
I had no idea they were gettin' down in India back then.

As I watch this video I can't help but to think of my poor old granma. She shakes her head like this too...

this is not an immitation. The whole american culture is imitation by that standard. The different people in the world don't live in isolation. Welcome to the world. How do you define indian culture. Do you define by the standard of 100 years ago????? ask yourself

What amazes me the versatility of RAFI. The same guy sang "Oduniya rekawale".

Greatest Singer Ever - Late Mohammed Rafi. 4500+ songs sung in films, over 26000 songs in films, on stage etc. Doesn't shake a leg when he sings songs like these, but creates such fun in his songs. and the Song's in urdu. all the lyrics were written in urdu back then, not hindi. Indian music upto the 80s was amazing.

This song is inspired from Beatles Music in the 1960s. LOL.
Wish Kishore Kumar the greatest singer had sung this song.

Tyronethe24th on Wednesday, April 28, 2010
What draws you to this clip is that they try so hard to get Western dance moves and almost get it right, but not quite. It's so frenetic and yet so stilted. I'm surprised that the singer isn't better known, and you have to love the mid-60s look. You expect Batman and Robin to burst in at any minute looking for the Riddler.

I remember this from the beginning of "Ghost World" and only just now found it.

The dancer is Laxmi Chaya..she was famous for her vampish dances in the
60's and early 70's

mahadevappa1 on Saturday, May 01, 2010

dranupkrdas on Wednesday, May 05, 2010

queenofz on Tuesday, June 22, 2010
Moh'd Rafi was an all-round amazing singer. He said with EMOTION, he sang from the heart.
There will never be anyone like him.
A humble, modest, shy, charitable, incredibly talented gentleman.

I just found out about this little gem when I was watching Ghost World and

Rafi sahib passed away 30 years ago (31 July 1980), but his legend lives on as his voice still continues to entertain and amaze millions around the world. No one replaced humble, modest and pious Rafi sahib. He changed Indian film playback and music industry forever. He is a book on how to sing. His playback voice changed the fate of most Indian film actors, and made them superstars of their time. I am honoured to have met him, be his family's neighbour in London-UK. RIP Mohammed Rafi.

HermanBenjamin on Saturday, July 31, 2010
@truelovewaits23 Nothing can match this, but the next movie most of the
people who made this one worked on was Teesri Manzil and I uploaded the
crazy dance scene from it that's a lot like this. The song is Aaja Aaja
Mein Hoon Pyar Tera (same playback singer-Rafi, same choreographer-Herman
Benjamin). Also check out the vid "Helen Naach Aye Dil song from Nadaan
subtitles". That's a ripping great song! The duo Shankar Jaikishan composed
that song as well as this one.

HermanBenjamin on Saturday, July 31, 2010
@best1212121 The composers of this went by the name Shankar Jaikishan.
Their full names were Shankarsinh Raghuwanshi and Jaikishan Dayabhai Pankal.

HermanBenjamin on Saturday, July 31, 2010
From the description you might think that the guy in the white suit is
Mohammad Rafi. Rafi is the (excellent) singer but the guy in the suit doing
the lip syncing is Herman Benjamin. He was a dancer and choreographer and
did the amazing choreography for this number.

fragmattic on Tuesday, October 05, 2010

I'm sure Tarantino was inspired by this for his Pulp Fiction Dance Scene !!!

jazeez100 on Thursday, October 14, 2010
@DarjaKostic I think they were coping Hollywood from the sixties. The movie was made during that era and fad or fashion is so universal. Maybe it does make sense to you but then not everyone can see the same thing in a concept. Personally I think it is a little out there, but I can see the idea.

LoveForMusic on Tuesday, October 26, 2010
@DarjaKostic: don't worry too much. It's just a movie. Enjoy the song and
have fun. Everyone was dancing like that in the world @ that era.

smodass on Sunday, October 31, 2010
@TamaraRN1 Type "Dilbar Dilbar Kehte Kehte " and you will find a song where
two identical twins are trying to woo the same girl. This is one of my
other favorites, perhaps you might like it. The beat and music is very
nice.
