That's true. not many steps still very graceful...Actually Meena Kumari was
very ill while filming the later part of this movie so in most of scenes
she is shown sitting or lying down. She died within 2 months after movie is
released.

If you can make it through this song without tearing up, you have no soul.
Such beauty to the lyrics, such gentleness to her dancing. 'Yeh chirag bhuj
raha hai' - a light is being snuffed out, a light is being put out, a light
is being extinguished, indeed.

Notice there is no mention of the poet Kaifi Azmi. His was the most
difficult task. To set the lyrics to the tune and maintain poetic
integrity. I hope some day the lyricists are honored with at least the same
esteem as we do the directors , the musicians and the singers. Many of them
died in penury such as the great Shailender.

The most poplar song of 1971 but still remembered by old lovers.

This song, as is this film, is a triumph of the human spirit. Imagine the
pain and suffering Meena Kumari endured day in day out to complete this
film, not just physical, but mental and spiritual as well. Her beauty
radiates through her pain and vulnerability. I watch this and my heart
shatters into a thousand pieces, yet I always return because her beauty
outweighs my pain. She will always be with us to remind us to be humble.
