brilliant poetry bySahir! This rendition has only2 stanzas!There are originally 4 stanzas and all have been recited by several ametures on you tube and chronologically written before Shakil sahib wrote the rebuttal for film Leader and set to music (raag patdeep I think!) by Naushadji!

Emotionally rich Sahir ghazal rendered with great depth by Moh'd Rafi and enacted in heart-felt style by SD. I especially love the succession of knowing, intriguing smiles that wash over Meena Kumari's lips as she responds to the flow of the recital. A peerless star all around ! Thanks for the post.

I have started late in using this medium. However, the comments by psyche 1954 appear to be translation of my feelings which have often been shared with friends in discussions. the era will never return.
