The long night passed, yet passed in weeping's keep.
A thought of fate, a shadow cast on me,
And then my heart found laughter, weeping deep.
Love, blinded by a deluge of tears,
Its light extinguished, lost to weeping's sweep.
Like a candle, my heart's own flame did burn,
Then laughed, and died, as it began to weep.
