this movie is written produced and directed by hrishikesh mukherji and was
his first film though it flopped at that time. this was a unique venture
containing three diff stories each showing the different phases of life. it
also had a beautiful bhajan by lataji man re hari gun gaa which is rarely
heard and was filmed on the beautiful suchitra sen . i found this movie a
great attempt for a first timer teaching lessons of hope struggle
resignation acceptance birth life and death .

When in studio shooting a movie before this one, the music director Salil
heard Dilip Kumar humming while working on something. Salil Choudhry
requested Dilip to sing with Lata this song in Musafir. Having great
respect for the Director H. Mukerjee, and the M.D, Dilip agreed to sing
this song, and the only song he sang in his entire filmi career.

lyrics were by the great shailendra and dilip kumar has done a great job in
this song. seems like a natural singer. i was surprised and touched by the
movie when i saw it on dvd last year. its beauty lies in its simplicity. a
must watch for old film fans and a treat to watch dilip kumar.

He is a surprisingly amazing singer. And seems to manage the classical
intro very well. Thanks very much for this. I had read in the autography by
Bunny Reuben that Dilip Kumar sang for himself in Mussafir, but I never
thought anybody would actually have the song.

great dilip saab could stand up to great lataji in classical singing.have
this song in my audio collection but watching video was
pleassure.thanks.this movie had a kishore kumar song MUNNA BADA PYARA AMMI
KA DULARA KOI KAHE CHAND KOI AANKH KA TARA.a very nice one.
