Lyrics of Janam Liyo Lalna Ke Chand More - जन्म लियो ललना के चंद मोरे
janam liyo lalna ke chand more
angana utar aayo ho
janam liyo lalna ke chand more
angana utar aayo ho utar aayo ho
mili mili sakhi sab mangal git
aaj gavhi ho, ho gavhi ho
jiye mora lal hey lakh baris
ashish sunave rahi ho
janam liyo lalna ke chand more
angana utar aayo ho utar aayo ho
lalan man bhawan suratiya suhawani
rakhi sukh pavehi ho
dhan ghan bahg safal gayi sadh
aanand manave hi ho
janam liyo lalna ke chand more
angana utar aayo ho utar aayo ho
aayo naya pehunaki saz bhayo sapna me
ram gun gavehi ho
bali gayi jau mai kajra lagau mai
nazar se bachavhu
janam liyo lalna ke chand more
angana utar aayo ho utar aayo ho
janam liyo lalna ke chand more
angana utar aayo ho
Poetic Translation - Lyrics of Janam Liyo Lalna Ke Chand More
A son is born, a moon descends,
Into my courtyard, he descends.
Sisters gather, songs of joy,
They sing today, they sing today.
May my son live a hundred lives,
Blessings the travelers send.
A son is born, a moon descends,
Into my courtyard, he descends.
My son, a form to charm the heart,
Keeps such joy, he keeps.
Wealth and fortune, fruit of life,
Rejoicing, they celebrate.
A son is born, a moon descends,
Into my courtyard, he descends.
A guest arrives, a dream fulfilled,
Singing the praise of Ram.
I'll give him gifts, I'll line my eyes,
Protect him from the gaze.
A son is born, a moon descends,
Into my courtyard, he descends.
A son is born, a moon descends,
Into my courtyard, he descends.

As mentioned in the introduction this song by Asha Bhosle on Kamini Kaushal is rarely heard. Thanks for this rare presentation.
BharatGul on Thursday, February 02, 2012 Such a heartwarming song. One vaguely recalls similar folk songs from real-life northern Indian culture celebrating the birth of a child. In every respect, Godaan the novel and Godaan the film gave as authentic a view of the tragedies and occasional joys of our rural folks as any artistic creation can. Raaj Kumar even looked like a farmer of sturdy jaat stock. Thanks, COS.
