Baba Bulleh Shah was a sufi saint from Punjab who left all worldly pursuits in search of truth. He wanted to discover the mystery of his own existance. He wanted to know his own real identity. One by one he denies what he is not.He is anguish in discovering and solving the secret of "self".However inthe end he affirms that he knows none other than God who was the First and will be the Last. This affirmation contains the truth of his own identity he was and has been "one" with "The Truth"(or God).

Well I agree that USA should not have started War with Iraq. It was because of oil and republican president (bush). USA people didn't have a choice to voice their opinions because Bush went for war without asking anyone. Obama on the other hand is democratic and good, so him killing Osama is true. How do you expect the USA to sit still when a terrorist attack like 9/11 happens? Ofcourse they will go into the middle east and create war. Plus it was a good thing Saddam was killed. He was bad.

Since I do not know neither Urdu nor Hindi, I had to rely on the English translation. This poem, describes men's everlasting quest to discover his place in the world. By saying he is neither this or that, compares himself to something that transcend humanity. Identity is either created by us or created for us. The world needs a lot more understanding of others than division among us. I truly believe, that music and poetry are the instruments through which peace can be reached.

@u2m2a2i2r Neither am I amongst drunkards nor amongst the intoxicated ones. Neither am I amongst the waking ones, nor am I amongst the sleepers. (Bullehyaa! ki jaana mein kaun) Neither am I (made of) water, nor am I(made of) dust(or earth). Neither am I (made of) fire nor am I (made of) air. (I am not made of anyone of these four elements: water, earth, fire, air). Bullehyaa! I know not who am i! Neither I discovered the mystery of religion, nor I am a progeny of Adam and Eve.

@kanthasingh54 I don't believe this verse Makey gaya gal nahi mukdee, pawein soo-soo jumaa parhh aiiee criticizes Islam in particular. The second phrase as follows "ganga gaya gal mukdee nahi pawain soo soo ghotay khaye". If u see this verse in depth then it is criticizing every religion. It's because people don't understand the inner essence of a religion and stress more in performing religious rituals without understanding what religion is about.

Yes..you are correct he had attained the state of Adwait Bhav or non duality of which all real masters like Adi Shankara , Ramana Maharishi , Baba Farid etc. speak of and I think that should be the goal of each one of us.Religion is a process which may help us reach that goal but its not the goal itself ..this is quiet clear from the words of saints like Baba Bulle Shah. Thanks for sharing your views friend.

@DeepSetEyesDance i have to tell information about my religion when people will say bad about it and will portray it as an evil religion. I just want to tell u all guys that no religion in the world is evil because the basic message of all the religions is the same no matter the way of praying is different. All religions teach us to do good deeds. No religion teach us to kill each other.

@musa78692 in these lines Baba Bulleh Shah means to say that there is nothing as mine or yours. We exist with each others support so he canot define himself as belonging to anything in particular in other words life is universal. Bulleh ki jaana mein kaun gives us the feeling that he was a selfless man and one line says that besides all this dont mistake me to be innocent(naadan).

@musa78692 For all what you have written i would just like to say one sentence that all your interpretations are wrong. You are not the only one who Knows Baba Bulleh Shah and his poetry. Baba Bulleh Shah's poetry teaches love, tolerance, peace and unity among human beings whereas your words just show hatred and nothing else.

@musa78692 Baba Bulleh Shah says Bullah is neither Rafzi nor Sunni, nor learned nor an intellectual nor a Jaini. I have learnt the lesson of love of God alone. People say : Bulleh is an Infidel (Kafar) and an idol-worshipper. But in the Lords court, both the Momin and Kafar (Believer and un-believer) are treated alike.
