Lyrics of Ae Rab - ऐ रब शाम ओ सवेरे
ae rab sham o savere
dar dar basere main dhundhta phira
aye rab hu kis firaq mein
kiski taak mein
main ghumta phira
suni khamoshiyon se
tanhayiyo se hu main ghira
yu hi sham o savere
dar dar basere main dhundhta phira
aye rab in bahki nigaho ko
phaili si baaho ko de de tu aasara
main hi dhundhta phira ghumta banwara
main hi dhundhta phira
main hi ghumta phira
rab rab karde buddhe ho gaye
mulla pandat sare
rab da khunj khurra na labha
sajde kar kar hare
rab ta tere andar wasda
rab ta tere andar wasda
vich quran ishare
bulle shah rab unho mil si
jeda apne nafs nu mare
ae rab sham o savere
dar dar basere main dhundhta phira
aye rab hu kis firaq mein
kiski taak mein
main ghumta phira
aye rab in bahki nigaho ko
pheli si baaho ko de de tu aasara
main hi dhundhta phira ghumta baawra
main hi dhundhta phira
main hi ghumta phira
Poetic Translation - Lyrics of Ae Rab
Oh, Lord, from dusk till dawn,
I wandered, seeking, ever on.
Oh, Lord, in what pursuit am I?
For whom do I yearn, beneath the sky?
I have roamed and drifted by.
By hollow silences, I am bound,
In solitude, my soul is drowned.
Thus, from dusk till dawn,
I wandered seeking ever on.
Oh, Lord, to these eyes, astray,
To these outstretched arms, lead the way.
I searched, a wanderer lost and free,
I searched, eternally.
I roamed, eternally.
"Rab, Rab," the aged ones intone,
Mullahs and pundits, their words are sown.
Yet, the hidden corner of the Lord, they've not found,
Prostrations offered, on sacred ground.
The Lord resides within your core,
The Lord resides, evermore.
In the Quran's whispers, the clues reside,
Bulleh Shah found Him, deep inside,
When the ego's grip, he cast aside.
Oh, Lord, from dusk till dawn,
I wandered, seeking, ever on.
Oh, Lord, in what pursuit am I?
For whom do I yearn, beneath the sky?
I have roamed and drifted by.
Oh, Lord, to these eyes, astray,
To these outstretched arms, lead the way.
I searched, a wanderer lost and free,
I searched, eternally.
I roamed, eternally.
