The actress as well as Mehmood's costumes are typical Kerala costume with
presumably Kerala background scenery . This is a funny song in two
languages.

"Muthukulikka vaareegala" was actually a very popular tamil number in the
60's from the movie "anubavi raja anubavi"... here's a youtube link to the
original song.. youtube.com/watch?v=BiD6xmKQcwg

mehmood always do best

Sunehri on Friday, December 24, 2010
The language they are singing is Malayalam. Since this character of Mehmood
is a man who lives with his mother in Kochi. So the real translation is
"Come let me give you a kiss" or Muthu Kodukaan Vadivada, which fits really
well in with the rest of the lyrics and the coreography. But then again I
would also like to point out that this song is based on a Tamil song with a
similar sounding title "Muthu Kulika Vaareegala". And also, great song =)

Maddy Rao on Sunday, January 02, 2011
this song n movie do phool is one of the most comedy movie of mehmood and
vinod mehra .Do you know that in 1994-95 david dhawan remake this movie n
made aankhen with govinda and chankey pandey and the same double role of
mehmood played by govinda...

shabash7410 on Thursday, January 06, 2011
The actress is Ramaprabha, a Telugu Character actress and ex-wife of Sarath babu.

Sharon Solomon on Friday, January 07, 2011

cagex007 on Sunday, February 06, 2011
Classic is gold, one of my fav songs

ekdumfilmi on Friday, February 11, 2011
Evergreen!
Since my schooldays, got hooked on Mehmoodsahab's "haa aa haa aa" when he starts to sing his "antara". - 0:46

ekdumfilmi on Friday, February 11, 2011
I meant "Mukhada" not "Antara". :-)

Kumar Thiru on Friday, May 20, 2011
The orignal song was from the Tamil movie Anubavi Raja Anubavi .

RANGARAJP1 on Tuesday, June 14, 2011
Lyrics definitely not Tamil or Malayalam.. Telugu I think..

1medislim on Saturday, July 09, 2011
Multi-talented Mehmood is a delight to watch, no matter what he did .
What an incredible career graph he had . a classic case of rags to
riches to rags . BUT his accomplishments are praiseworthy ..God Bless
his Soul!

ann79nd on Tuesday, July 19, 2011
what ??i thought mehmood was well off..how can he be "a classic case of rags to riches to rags"???

prabhu19 on Monday, July 25, 2011
may be mehmood's father was tamil, that is the only explanation for his
obsession towards copying and lifting Tamil songs or acting like tamil
wearing lungi. in this song, padosan, gumnaam etc..

onlyash on Thursday, August 18, 2011
Simply awesome and addictive ... love the choreography ... Mehmood sahab's
simply great with his comic style and timing

kuli ram on Wednesday, August 31, 2011

TheCoolguy143 on Tuesday, September 20, 2011
@prabhu19 Copying n lifting r such cheap words yaar..he always gave
credit to original actors n composers, I'v seen him so many times praising
Nagesh.newaz I think evn ur intention was to say gud things abt
mehmood sahab, newaz many ppl think tht he was good only with comedy, n sum
feel he was over rater, for those ppl I wud say watch Kunwara baap Main
sundar hoon :D

Clark Kent on Sunday, October 16, 2011
The original is a tamil song. The original song puns on the word 'Muthu'
which means both 'pearl' and 'kiss' in tamil. The actress (manorama) asks
Nahesh (actor) - want to come pearl-diving with me? Nagesh puns back - want
to give me a kiss? Mehmood's copy is good, melodious and entertaining in
its own way, but the original is far cuter. Nagesh is also incredibly
athletic, the most athletic actor I've seen.

pradipmazum on Wednesday, October 26, 2011
Mehmood a class apart...outstanding comedian and actor.absolutely refreshing..

LuckyStar on Thursday, January 05, 2012
@MegaGoofy2000 how to find the original tamil song with video?

R Bhatia on Saturday, January 07, 2012
This is from MAIN SUNDER HOON and not DO PHOOL...

R Bhatia on Sunday, January 08, 2012
@MrRajinderBhatia Sorry, my bad!! This is from DO PHOOL. Both Do Phool as
well as Main Sunder Hoon were released the same year (1971) Do Phool had
music by R D Burman. My apologies.

Srinivas Ramajayam on Wednesday, May 02, 2012
Mehmoodsaab was simply the best.

0point00 on Saturday, May 19, 2012
Yes, I heard the Tamil Folk song on which this is based. Very nice song and the two sound very similar except a bit in antara. I personally feel that the Hindi version sounds better, but that one was also good. Probably Mehmood's import.

Chanel2585 on Thursday, August 16, 2012
muthu kulikka vaarihala means would u come pearl diving??

shree prakash Loya on Sunday, August 19, 2012
Gumnam Mehmood was not tamilian but Hyderabadi.

TrinityGod31 on Saturday, September 08, 2012
The meaning of Kiss in Malayalam is Umma or Vumma. Muthu in Tamil means a
Pearl. The above song is based on Tamil song Muthu kulikka Vareegalaa in
Anubhavi Raja Anubhavi which has been released in 1967 and the meaning of
the song is "come to pearl diving".

TrinityGod31 on Saturday, September 08, 2012
Muthu in Tamil means a Pearl. The above song is based on Tamil song Muthu
kulikka Vareegalaa in Anubhavi Raja Anubhavi which has been released in
1967 and the meaning of the song is "come to pearl diving".

noel sukumar on Tuesday, September 18, 2012
elegant song.

Abdeali Lokhandwala on Friday, September 28, 2012
Whatever but its fun

Khalid Muzaffar on Thursday, December 20, 2012
Yes Mehmoods ancestors were tamilians...

Sam Hariharan on Thursday, January 17, 2013
The movie Do Phool i also a Hindi remake of the Tamil movie Anubhavi Raja
Anubhavi in which the original song is featured. Yes, Mehmood often played
roles originally played by Nagesh in Tamil. I think he admired Nagesh and
Tamil comedy!

Suresh Shenoy on Sunday, March 31, 2013
It is not Tamil, he is copying Keralites, though the lines are having a
tinge of Tamil. They are in Kerala dress and it is at least partly shot in
Kerala. See the Chinese nets. it is at or near Cochin of those days!

Good song and dance

Hats off to RD Burman and his brainwave to combine Mehmood Saab and Ashaji
for this song. An oddball combo but what an effect!!!!!!!!!!!. This song
evokes many childhood memories. I used to listen to it on vividh bharati.
Thank you Panchamda, for being the maverick, that you are.

Bhavesh Desai on Wednesday, May 29, 2013
Do Phool {1973}: Asha Bhosale singing for Ramaprabha & Mehmood for himself;
Lyricist: Majrooh Sultanpuri; Music Director: R.D.Burman

bricklanebornbastard on Monday, June 17, 2013
mehmood bought the rights for this from K.Balachander after the film and
the original song became sensation down south. he gave total credit to all
concerned. It was not unusual to Nagesh (tamil comedian) and Mehmood to do
each others role in their relevent language. BUT pleez listen to the
original...still a Tamil classic. Mutghu Kulikka Varigala= shall we go and
swim in kisses !!!!

Ittop Babu on Friday, July 05, 2013
supeeeeeer song

armalyte on Sunday, July 07, 2013
haha! that's an interesting point, although a very funny observation. I
laughed for ages just thinking about all his various south take-offs.

SK Ganguli on Saturday, September 14, 2013
