masterpiece from madan mohan and equally sung by lata all of dastak songs
are rare to listen. This is from a off beat film which got presidential
award for madanji. It is very sad to know that our so called judges did not
think fit to give him film-fare award and this is very heart burning. No
matter contribution to film music will remain forever.

Hum hain mataa-e-koocha-o-bazar ki tarah... ''Mataa'' is wealth.
''Mataa-e-koocha-o-bazar'' wealth of the streets and the markets - a
disposable commodity, ready for sale. This line is further enhanced by the
second one which goes ''uThati hai har nigaah khareedaar ki tarah'' I am
like something which belongs to the markets, for each one views me as
(though) a buyer. This is a masterpiece of a metaphor by Majrooh.

Barot Pankaj on Monday, April 29, 2013

Good, Really Thank you for making the line explain it easily. God bless
you. One more thing the Tabla played in this song is by Ramakant Mahpsekar,
the pet & fixed table player of Madan Mohanji.

melody

Prince Charm on Saturday, February 08, 2014
Rajinder Singh Bedi and Majrooh was best friends and Majrooh saab dedicate
his book to Rajinder Singh Bedi that's a long story.
Madan Mohan who literally made what is Lata today by his poignant music
which he made only for Lata and Lata justified all his Ghazals by singing
in her equally mesmerizing voice.
For someone who has difficultly understands this pure Urdu words.
mataa e koocha o bazaar ki tarha ---Meaning the items which sells in the
streets.
Majrooh is describing the plea of Woman who are in Khotas..Where they are
treated as some items which sells in streets and every man look at them
like buyers.
The other lyrics are easy to understand.

Kamarudin Ebrahim on Saturday, February 15, 2014

Abdul Qudus on Tuesday, December 23, 2014
It is not a good translation (there is another one already posted), but
that is how I felt after watching this clip. 'We are like the commodities,
everyone is shopping around. Love is gone, but the ghost of memories are
haunting. While the good ones are counted, we are standing like the sinners
(rejected ones)". Reminds me of Guru Dutt a lot.
