the singers of tody are not even worthy of touching the ground this man walked on... you, kundan lal, are born when humanity accumulates a bit of piety and the gods are pleased.

we will never have singer like KL saigal on this planet ever.

If I remember correctly,Majrooh debuted as a lyricist with this.

The phrase "Genious of all geniouses" can be put before him. I am a great admirer of Hemanta Mukherjee, another forgotten legend, but K.L.SAIGAL was ahead of his time. I am a boy of 17yrs and dnt fear to say that I dnt find any music nowadays.

Saigal used to drink heavily during song recordings, but he was careful with Pankajmullick & Naushad. Because they had the guts to order him, pankaj had even slapped him, during the takes of KARUN KYA AAS NIRAAS BHAYI, from DUSHMAN.

Indian music today and back then are like North Pole and South Pole in quality, beauty, and everything else! We have forgotten the beauty of being Indian due to an obsession of being accepted to people in the western world. However, when you TALK to people in America and England, what THEY enjoy is what's INDIAN music---NOT the Americanized songs. I am NOT joking---I have lived in both countries to VOUCH for what I am saying!

So true what you say, and so sad. I'm not sure what this new India is all about--what are its core values?

The only true super-star that lived in Indian Cinema.

Kundan Lal, I am blessed to hear your voice and proud that I understand the language you sing in.

My favourite during college days in seventies and still is.
Thanks.

I have listened to this terrific song after a long time. What a great song. Though the style and the way of singing does not belong to my generation and does not appeal but the composition and the lyrics of this song and an-other gem of this singer "Aye qatibay taqdeer" have made this artist a legend. So much so his death made these songs immortal. When ever we listen to these two particular songs, we often goes in to those memories in which his death being occurred.

The producer of the film wanted songs written in pure Urdu. So he
approached the great Urdu poet Jigar Muradabadi with a request to write
songs. Jigar himself did not wish to write film songs. So he assigned the
job to his young disciple Majrooh Sultanpuri. The songs of this film
launched Majrooh as a major film song writer. Majrooh remained in demand as
a film lyricist till his last year and penned hundred of film songs. Jigar
instinctively saw in his disciple the great talent.
