Nasiruddin shah is a legendary actor.

Hari Kumar on Friday, August 24, 2012
Why should it not be full of pain, merely a heart not a hard block of
stone? We shall cry ourselves a thousand times, take jibes at us, why
should anyone? Not temple nor mosque, the Kaaba or a harem, neither at a
doorway nor a tomb or entrance. We sit at common trodden pathways, why
remove us O unknown? She, of the heart warming beauty, resplendent as the
noon sun. Herself a vision to blast all others, then why hide in a veil,
all alone?

Hari Kumar on Friday, August 24, 2012
Piercing coquetry, bane of (my) life, stinging endless arrows of pride. Why
would it come in front of you, even if the image be your own? Imprisoned by
life or captive of grief, both of them are one and the same. Can man before
death, in life itself ever find all his sorrows gone? Beauty and, with it,
self estimation, saved my lusty rival from indiscretions. She had
confidence on herself, why then would she try this glutton?

Hari Kumar on Friday, August 24, 2012
There, she is arrogant and brimming with pride, here a humble humility
about ourselves. Where do we meet on the streets, why'd she invite us to
meets of her own? Yes I know she does not believe, given she is unfaithful
even. Those who prize faith and fidelity, to her lane, why'd they be shown?
Without the broken Ghalib, this world, would surely not come to a stop. Why
cry so bitterly then, why make such a pitiful moan?

ah. but if it's a free world then he has the right to criticize as well,
using his freedom of speech

I'm listening this Gazal since 1988 (I was 14 year old boy), and always my
heart sink to low. Amazing penmanship of Galib Saheb and amazing singing by
Mastro Jagjeet Singh Jee.

Heart it is, not a brick or stone Why shouldn't it feel the pain? Let none
tyrannize this heart Or I shall cry again and again Neither the temple, nor
the mosque Nor on someone's door or porch I await on the path where He will
tread Why others should compel me to go? The illumined grace that lights up
the heart And glows like the midday sun That Self that annihilates all
sights When then it hides in the mysterious net? The amorous glance is the
deadly dagger And the arrows of emotions are fatal

Vishwa Cloud on Monday, January 14, 2013
Without the wretched "Ghalib" Has any activity come to a halt? What then is
the need to cry? What then is the need to brood?

Syed Obaid Hasan Raza on Saturday, May 31, 2014
Translation:

Dil Hi To Hai Na Sang-o-Khist
Dard Se Bhar Na Aaye Kyon?
Royenge Hum Hazaar Baar
Koi Hamein Sataye Kyon?

It’s only a (my) heart, not a stone or brick,
Why should it not be overcome with pain?
I will cry a thousand times,
Why should one torment(stop) me?

Qaid-e-Hayaat o Band-e-Gham,
Asl Mein Dono Ek Hain
Maut Se Pehlre Aadmi
Gum Se Nijaat Paye Kyon?

This prison called life and the sorrow captive in it,
In reality are one and the same
Before the very end (death),
How can then one get free from it?

Ghalib-e-Khast Ke Bagair
Kaunse Kaam Band Hain?
Roeeye Zaar-Zaar Kya?
Keejiye Haye-Haye Kyon?

Without the wretched/devastated “Ghalib”
Has any activity come to a halt?
What then is the need to cry bitterly?
What then is the need to wail and brood?

Heart it is, not a brick or stone
Why shouldn't it feel the pain?
Let none tyrannize this heart
Or I shall cry again and again
Neither the temple, nor the mosque
Nor on someone's door or porch
I await on the path where He will tread
Why others should compel me to go?
The illumined grace that lights up the heart
And glows like the midday sun
That Self that annihilates all sights
When then it hides in the mysterious net?
The amorous glance is the deadly dagger
And the arrows of emotions are fatal
Your image may be equally powerful
Why should it appear before you?
The rules of life and bonds of sorrow
In reality are the one manifestation
Before realizing the ultimate truth
How can then one attain liberation?
Love is laden with noble thoughts
Yet what remains is the carnal shame
Trust conscience the still little voice
Why do you want test the rival?
There the pride of modesty resides
Here dwells the social morality
How shall we meet, on which road
Why should he invite me to the abode?
True he is an atheist
Unfaithful and unchaste
Dear to who is faith and heart
Why should he then venture there?
Without the wretched 'Ghalib'
Has any activity come to a halt?
What then is the need to cry?
What then is the need to brood?
