Poetic Translation - Lyrics of Nagendra Haraya
Upon the serpent-king adorned, the three-eyed Lord,
Whose limbs are smeared with ash, the great Maheshwara, adored.
Eternal, pure, and clad in space, unbound,
To that 'Na' of Shiva, my soul is profoundly crowned.
By Mandakini's waters, sandalwood's embrace,
Lord of Nandi and the hosts, divine and grace.
With Mandara blooms and myriad flowers I bow,
To that 'Ma' of Shiva, my humble offering now.
To Shiva, whose face is Gauri's lotus bloom,
To the Sun, who shattered Daksha's doom.
To the blue-throated, whose banner bears the bull so bold,
To that 'Shi' of Shiva, my story must be told.
To whom Vashishtha, Agastya, and Gautama do pray,
To the sage-king, whose head the gods obey.
Whose eyes are sun, moon, and fire's vibrant gleam,
To that 'Va' of Shiva, I surrender my dream.
The form of sacrifice, with matted hair of might,
Whose hand holds the Pinaka, eternal light.
Divine God, space-clad, forever free,
To that 'Ya' of Shiva, my destiny.
This sacred five-syllable hymn, if chanted near the Divine,
Reaches Shiva's realm, where bliss and joy entwine.
In Shiva's presence, the soul finds its release,
And with Shiva, forever finds eternal peace.
