Empty, the Vrindavan, the whispers of Gokul gone,
By Yamuna's shore, where Krishna's echo is withdrawn.
No one understands Yashoda's ache, the taunts they cast,
"Her heart of stone, to send her boy, a future unsurpassed?"
"Yashoda, how could you be so strong, to send him far?
Across the plains to Mathura, that shining star.
He's hungry, thirsty, restless now, you see,
Searching for you, eternally."
Did you ever pause to ponder, my love,
How tender is Krishna, like a dove?
How tender is Krishna, so innocent and meek,
How tender is Krishna, the words that he'd speak?
"Yashomati, mother, if Krishna were your own,
If he were your son, and yours alone,
You'd keep him safe within your eyes,
You'd never let a single tear arise."
Though he was not born of your womb, they say,
Yet he's called yours, in every single way.
Though the bond of blood, was never meant to be,
Still our hearts ache, for he,
