Suman has a sweeter voice than Lata and also has a higher range. The music
composers were tone deaf and mediocre and could not appreciate Suman's
greater qualities. They gave suman only 740 songs, instead of ten thousand.
Indian music would have been even better if we had better music composers
and suman got more songs than lata.

yes, I also think some where on the same lines. Suman had the same
sweetness in her voice as that of Lata, if not more !! In fact, there are
some songs where it is very difficult to sau whether its Suman or Lata !!
Its only our Music Composers had a restricted vision. Arvind.

song 'o raat ke musaafir' by Lata Mangeshkar from the movie 'Karwan', 1956.
