One birthed you, a vessel, a fragile start,
Another nurtured, a blossoming garden.
Krishna, to whom will you give your heart?
Vows whispered to gods, temples where prayers rise,
Devaki, the bearer, offered to appease,
Yashoda found joy in milk's soft embrace,
In cradling you, whispering sweet ease.
One gave you birth, a sacred, fleeting plea,
Another held life, guarding with all their grace.
Krishna, to whom will you give your loyalty?
Fear drove Devaki, from her home you were sent,
To Gokul you journeyed, a hidden pearl.
Yashoda, though never bearing, motherly,
Wrapped you in her arms, a secret unfurled.
Birth or nurturing, the soul knows no divide,
Where love blooms, the truest mother appears,
One gave you sight, a world to behold,
The other lit your path, dispelling all fears.
One gave you light to see the world so grand,
The other, your life, so bright and clear.

this has been my most favourite song since my childhood in india.
it touches my heart every time i listen to it, specially today, it affected me the most since it is mother's day may 13, 2012.
