Poetic Translation - Lyrics of Bhasmaasoor Mohini Nrutya
The foolish reap the harvest of their deeds,
Across the world, a tragic tale proceeds.
Bhasmasura, a siren's shadowed art,
His endless legend tears the world apart.
Om Namah Shivaya, Om Namah Shivaya.
Seeing Shiva lost in blissful reverie,
Bhasmasura advanced, his plea set free.
"Grant me a boon, O Lord, I humbly pray!"
His head then bowed, to Shiva's grand display.
Uma's Lord, his hand in blessing raised,
"Whom you touch, with fire will be razed."
The sinner, heedless of maternal ties,
His prideful heart, where darkness lies.
"I shall consume Lord Shiva's sacred form,"
This wicked thought, within his heart was born.
To claim Parvati, he reached to touch,
Shiva, the destroyer, trembled much.
The sinner chased, his intent to seize,
The heavens swayed, the earth did cease.
The oceans churned, the waters grieved,
From Vishnu's realm, a cry received.
The doors of sorrow began to groan,
"O Narayana, Narayana, alone..."
