Wao!!! Finally someone post this song, I had a bet with my wife that this song is from Amrapali, but she did not belive because it is not in the amrapali DVD or Video. Thanks. This is really a best song, very nice wordings and music. Thanks one more time to upload.

eraksoldies on Monday, September 14, 2009
KHANNA JI! Thanks to yourself and your wife too, but where is my share of
your bet. Tell bhabhi ji sometimes it is good to loose (in return you got
this evergreen song). This is my favourite also.

These dvd/CD makers have no Idea of songs in a film some films are only songs they dont have much object in them, this important point they totally omit they do things looking to their convineince

Wow,I was searching video for this desperately for so long! In 65 this
movie was considered an "aisi vaisi" film because of revealing dresses of
Vyjayanthimala. As a child I could not request anyone at home to take me to
watch this movie, although I oved the music & later saw the beautiful
dances too!

We here this song on radios as the song from the Amrapali! But never seen
the video. What is the real problem! Why cant we have the video?

eraksoldies on Saturday, October 24, 2009
Sometimes Music is better then Video. Listen to it, who knows video was
good or bad (Censored). Enjoy till we get the video...

thats cause its not in the movie. Its on the soundtrack of the movie but
sadly not picturized on the movie. So many songs of so many movies had
received the same fate. 1. Jeevan Path Par from Ek Shriman Ek Shrimati 2.
Karle iti baat from Pehchan 3. Tere Siva from Pyar Mohabbat Lovely songs
all in the mentioned movie's soundtrack but not in the movie. ITs a sad
story

I had been desperately looking for this song for past more than a decade. I
din't know the song was from this film. Last time i heard this song, when
it was sung by a contestant from Kolkata in the finals of SAREGAMAPA
programme way back I think in 1997-98. so u can imagine how thrilled I am
today. Thanks a million !! u made my day !! And what a lovely lyrics,
composition and Lataji's mesmerising voice... It's heaven to hear this
number

SUPER LATA JI !!!

soph6ia on Friday, March 26, 2010
@rk10101 Thanks for this background info. I wondered why the movie didn't do well in the box office. Indeed, I discovered it on youtube. Viju can only be described in superlatives.

Wow thanks a lot for uploading this song..

HFMMelodies on Thursday, April 15, 2010
@iseeking I too have the Shemaroo DVD which does not include this song in the film. But I did read somewhere that in the theatrical release, the video of the song was present, with Vayajanthimala's dancing. That might also explain her laugh at the beginning of the song before Lata-ji starts singing. I would absolutely love to see the video. The only probable way to see it is if you go to some old video shop in India that still carries cassettes of this film, cause Shermaroo ppl are just fools.

ATTI SUNDER...:)

Sumit Joshi on Saturday, August 21, 2010
I recall Vyjanthimala confiming in an interview that this song was shot in
only one take (only one of its kind). I really wonder where that video has
disappeared! It seems some songs are not included in the actual movie. E.g:
Main pyar ka rahi hoon from Ek Musafir Ek Hasina OR Balma khuli hawa mein
from Kashmir Ki Kali. Never seen the videos of these songs on TV or
elsewhere.

Vasant Pusalkar on Thursday, September 23, 2010
Dear eraksoldies, Thanks for loading a very good song. This song is been
cut in the CDs in market. But I have seen it in the film - several times.
Can you load the video please ? Vyjayanthimala was wearing a nice yellow
dress. the jogi was Bela Bose.

Awsome Voice Lataji and well written song too..Melody at its

resting mode and put on this melodious song.if u r a true lover
of good quality music,u will feel as if u are in Heaven...Simply
WONDERFUL,SUPERB,MARVELLOUS...Words fall short to describe it...

Coucoutchicou on Friday, May 06, 2011
I suspect this song was cut from the film - for whatever reason - because
it doesn't feature in any VCD/DVD of the film... Ununderstandable not only
because it is an excellent song but also because at the time it became very
popular.

gayatri2078 on Thursday, July 28, 2011
best song from film Aamrapali.

Very Very True

Sorry this is indeed Amrapali. The song you are referring to in Chitralekha
is Aeri Jane na doongi. Both are most likely in the same raga "Kamod"

Rukhmini Devi Dasi on Saturday, December 21, 2013
very beautiful,thanks :)

Subhash Kothari on Thursday, February 06, 2014
I know this nice song is written by none other than Shailendraji. For such
kind of songs, only Lataji can sing and I understand that SJ has has used
Lataji's beautiful voice in all the songs of this movie, which are
memorable one.Though I have seen this movie couple of times some times
around 1967 - 68,but I did not see this song in the movie. I don't know
whether this was deleted subsequently, as some body pointed out that
Vyjayanthimala was wearing yellow dress and Bela Bose was Jogi. But I have
no idea.

Deepak Lal on Tuesday, April 01, 2014
Such brilliance could come only from the unbeatable combination of
Shankar-Jaikishan, Shailendra, and Lata Mangeshkar! A song gifted to the
mankind from the heavens!! Who cares about the video anyway!

Rahim Malkani on Friday, January 09, 2015
Very nice song

Excellent. May be not enough

THE SONG IS ONE OF THE MANY MANY PRICELESS GEMS CREATED BY SHANKERJI AND
SHAILENDRAJI AFTER THE TRAGIC DEMISE OF JAI AND SHAILENDRA SHANKER WENT IN
TO A STEEP DOWNHILL AND DURING HIS LAST YRS THIS GENIUS WAS NEARLY IN
OBLIVION ISN,T IT SAD

GOD BLESS THE QUEEN OF SINGERS THAT IS LATA DIDI AND THE KING OF COMPOSERS

Lekh Tandon who made the movie in his own words that reveals the genius
that is Lata:
"I also recall the first song that almost didn't happen because when Raj
Kapoor learnt on the morning of the recording that Shankar-Jaikishen had
given 'Kaate na kate raina' to Tandon, he refused to part with it saying he
had decided to use it in 'Mera Naam Joker' (1972). Cancelling the recording
would be an inauspicious start so Lata Mangeshkhar urged the composers for
an alternative. They had one mukhda, 'Jao re jogi tum jao re, yeh hai
premiyon ki nagri, yahaan prem hi hai puja'. Lataji called for a harmonium
and sat down with Shankar-Jaikishan to set it to tune while Shailendra was
sent off to write the antaras, Shailendra returned to Mahalaxmi Studio
after a few hours saying he could come up with just three antaras instead
of the usual five. Lataji assured him they were enough and Amrapali got its
first song in the shortest time possible,"
