Plus she knew that Rahuls family has a higher status than her family so she was worried as well about how to convince Rahul that their relationship is not going to work.

Bollywood is very close to the surrealism and theatricalness seen in stage musicals or even shows like Glee or movies like High Schoo Musical. They are meant for entertainment and escapism. If I wanted something completely believable I'd watch a documentary.
