how noble..mirza ghalib used sit on a throne and let four men haul him around the court in the middle of the night??

This ghazal is extraordinarily excellently sung by Suraiya. Very sweetly
sung by her on a low tone and that is the beauty of the way she has sung
it.It is just magnificent. She had a very style of her own and a wonderful
way she sang her songs. She brings back the memories of the old days gone by
her voice. That was a time of its own type.

There is such calmness in the voice of Suraiya. Makes her rendition sound so effortless...She could have been singing this song, flipping through a book, instead of in front of a mic in a recording room with a live orchestra accompanying. For someone who is terrified of public performances, I cannot emphasis enough what an incredible thing this is!

Sir You lived nearby. Her prop worth 8 cr went to her muh bole Bhai. Was it
a single flat or whole block?

Those interested to read Ghalib may read latest book of Pavan K Verma,
Ghalib the man the times, from Penguin. Do look into bibliography and
suggest if any of those are available, if so from where.

Great, so you visited her grave, I have heard that Madhubala is buried in
the same graveyard, and her tomb has been demolished recently..Is that
right?

LonelySea79 on Saturday, June 01, 2013
Yes, i visit Suraiya's grave at the graveyard at Marine Lines (South
Mumbai). Madhubala is not buriied there she is I think in Bandra's
graveyard wher other celebrities like Rafi Saab etc are there.

Small corrections,brother:
1st line:::
(..the heart has complaints but i cant express them)
2nd line
(..no point in trying when there is no chance (of a succesful relationship!))

Suraiya has signed her name on this ghazal ...it is hers now..matchless
singing even beats Noor jehan who was another big name in that era.

Different persons telling different meaning of the 1st two lines.
Muhammad Yusaf translation 'As the beloved has the habit of criticizing all
the time, I am unable to show him the condition of my sad heart. Because I
cannot satisfy him that is why I cannot succeed in my aim

'listen2watidontsay : My beloved is too critical of me! I find it difficult
to express my feelings to her, What relationship can there possibly be,
when no conversation takes place despite effort?

Sakshi Sharda @sonachenab
Nukta chee hai ghame dil, usko sunaye na bane
Cynical is this heart (of mine), with whom when I try to reason out with, I
can't (doesn't listen to me)
Kya bane baat, jahan baat banaye na bane
(What I am reasoning out is -)
What to make of that love, which is impossible (to attain/reach)

Can anyone tell whether it is heart as sakshi what is blamed or it is my
beloved who is critical
