aksheeshadow,

no I have never been to India, am
discouraged, you might burn you alive !!.
Yes I am afraid, I have to agree with you
on this dirty race called " Politicians " wish get rid of them, but how ? I was taught that painting a religion on yourself
is as if you are denying it !! for me there
only one door left opened for India, thats
musiq, nobody can monopolise it !! we will perish because of our deeds but music will remain, btw, human being invented music !
ha ha ha

Ustad Abdul Halim Jaffer Khan was brought in especially for this piece. He played sitar only on this one piece in the film. Amongst other stellar musicians playing here is Ustad Hafiz Ali Khan on sarod.

fqshah on Wednesday, May 13, 2009
Beautiful video... but the camera should have been on the dancer most of the time... such an excellent saaz and beat etc., great to have a performance to.
however, I must say the dancer is not so great... (cannot compete with madhubala...)

Rafi captures the mood perfectly. and its a love song more so in the
Shringar Rasa form rather than a devotional song. Beautiful !!

Mate seriously, that's ridiculous.

shoonnya on Tuesday, July 14, 2009

If I had a penny for every time I watched this... well, I would be pretty
rich.

Satish Sabade on Friday, July 31, 2009
India, with all its faults never ceases to amaze . Very true. Inshaallaha.
AND Will not cease to amaze.Remember all the names you mentioned are
INDIANS. This happens only in INDIA.

Sholay48 on Sunday, August 02, 2009
Talking about penny reminds me that Rafi did not charge any fee to sing
this song. Naushad made mention of this in one of his interviews.

Deepak Chanda on Monday, September 21, 2009
hey badmashabhi, it was avadhi, not urdu, that originated in Lucknow. the
word 'urdu' means 'tent' in Turkey. As the Turkeys advanced towards India,
subjugating one after another empires, days passed into months and months
into years, during which time the invaders remained lodged in tents and
mingled for political and practical reasons with the locals. This
intermingling gave birth to a unique language, that grew and developed in a
tent, called Urdu.

Deepak Chanda on Monday, September 21, 2009
please see my comments

abbash83 on Saturday, September 26, 2009
Urdu is a Persian word, which literally means "the Army" .Urdu was initially introduced by the Mughal administrators (who them selves were mostly non Indian and spoke Persian) as an administrative hybrid language to bridge the gap between Hindi and Persian.. Urdu was first used for Military communication, but later found its way into the royal court and the society. You can say that Urdu was born out of gibberish mixture of Persians who were learning Hindi, and Indians who were learning Persian.

Dilip's fleetign fingers more in jhala passages caught close up shows what
a perfectionist he is. As for the comments of some people on unrelated
issues.Follow the mythtical monkeys!! See only whats good, ehar only what
is melodious and be silent!

aslesha2k9 on Saturday, October 24, 2009
manu bhai i meant no offence. This is a site to hear enjoy music not for
C(h)at fight. Lets forget the word wars. When A R Rahman composes music for
Bhajan in Lagan or the sufi song in Jodha we dont look who did it but what
he produced to bring us pleasure. so please ignore the stink enjoy the
fragrance!

BraveNewWorld2.0 on Saturday, October 24, 2009
This music is so hard to compose. OMG!! Where is this music now? EXTINCT ?!?

tiktam51 on Monday, October 26, 2009
Rafi learnt and mastered Indian classic singing And music director Naushad
Indian classic music both were the real gems of Indian film industry. Rafi
was also good at singing bhajans.
