When i saw you i was afraid to talk to you...

when i talked to you i was afraid to hold you...

When i hold you i was afraid to love you

Now that i love you im afraid to lose you

In many ways, the voices of Mukesh and Talat Mahmood had similar
limitations. Both voices were suitable for sad and semi sad songs, with
Mukesh having slight edge over Talat with little versatility. That is why
Rafi and Kishore dominated the field. However all had tremendous talents, and
that is why they conquered the hearts of millions till today, and their
songs are evergreen and will remain so.

1) I don't have to look at the net. I know so. Madan Mohan composed his tunes himself. Just as once Bipin & Babul were assistants for Madan, Sonik worked for Madan as an arranger/assistant starting either late 50's or early 60's. Sonik was visually impaired, his nephew Omi worked alongside with him as spokes person for him. Arranging / Assisting does not mean they "composed" music. If Sonik Omi tunes were go great, how come they didn't continue giving music after Madan's demise?

2) There's an old saying that "When a Lion dies, jackals come out from their holes & claim to be the Lion".

FYI, Madan Mohan was also a sound engineer and performed as a sound engineer in many of his recording sessions. His father wanted him to be a sound engineer but his heart was in composing music.
Madan Mohan, was "Madan Mohan"

Hello. Mukesh had a limited nasal voice but a sad voice. Talat had a very unique, vibrant and an extremely romantic voice, second to none. Listen to him in "Jise Dil Mein Basana Chaha Tha" in film Ada 1951, "Mohabbat Mein Kashish Hogi" in Khursurat 1952, "Teri Chamakti Ankhon Ke Aagey" with Lata in Chhote Babu 1957, "Humse Aaya Na Gaya" in Dekh Kabira Roya 1957. These are just few examples. Regards.

@RealMusicKing Dude.. you have a pretty limited knowledge of music. Just to
admire Talatji, it isn't necessary to say that Mukeshji had limited nasal
voice only for sad songs. DOn't know if you have listened the songs like
"Chehre se jara aanchal" or "Hai preet jaha ki reet sada" or may be "aye
bhai jara dekh ke chalo" etc.. too many songs for the limited nasal sad
voice.. right??

RealMusicKing on Sunday, June 26, 2011
Dudey You really can't be that illiterate! But you are. Mera Naam Joker song "Aye Bhai ZARA Dekh Ke Chalo" was sung by Manna Dey, not MUKESH.The word is "Zara" not "Jara". Mukesh' "Nasal" voice(Najal to you) was limited to Raj Kapoor starting "Zinda Hoon Is Tarah Ke Gham-e-Zindagi Nahin" penned by Behzad Lucknowi & it's not "Jinda" & it's not "Jindagi". Mukesh was given quite a few good "Compositions" by Music Directors but one could not tell which were "Happy" or which were "Sad".

@RealMusicKing Thanks for the correction Music King... I appreciate that..
Actually it was "Kehta hai Joker (may be Zoker for you)" what i intended to
write. But other than pointing the typos.. if you can not tell that "Mai
pal do pal ka shayar hoo" is Sad or Happy, let alone the music knowledge
you also lack the knowledge of feelings... trust me.. first thing you
should do is go and find a collection of Mukesh songs...

@RealMusicKing Relax dude... calm down... calm down..!! Don't get so
hyper...!!! God you cranked me up... you are funny... :lol

RealMusicKing on Sunday, June 26, 2011
Always relaxed and attentive. That's why I hear a nasal(torn bamboo flute) voice out of Mukesh.

Musicking Hello! You are right. Though Tallat has been my favourite all my
life, but some songs of Mukesh are unique in their own way. Both were icons
,and indian music has suffered a very great setback when all the great
singers departed one after the other, leaving a great vacuum. They were men
of charactor, talent and humility. God bless them.

The song is very fine. Mukesh what a verstile singer he has indepth
feelings to express vagaries of life in melody. He has perspective feeling
and sensation to transform it ito into musical notes. Really very rare gift
of the nature. Very few indian singers like Mukesh(Rafi, Talat Kishore)
haave no substitue at least for few centurries of years to come,

Wonderful composition. Sonik Omi displayed the talent in Dil ne phir Yaad
Kiya just like Laxmi Pyare in Parasmani yet they could not sustain their
success. This song is a proof of their talent but strange are the ways of
the film industry. Talent disappears and mediocrity survives!!!

Jinhein Hum Bhoolanaa Chaahein, Vo Aksar Yaad Aate Hain That which I want
to forget, I cannot forget, I keep remembering Buraa Ho Is Mohabbat Kaa Vo
Kyun Kar Yaad Aate Hain This love/desire is so bad, why does it keep coming
back to me Bhulaaein Kis Tarah Unko, Kabhi Pi Thi Un Aankhon Se How can I
forget her, from whose eyes I have tasted love Chhalak Jaate Hain Jab
Aansoo Vo Saagar Yaad Aate Hain When my tears overflow, I remember that
ocean of love (her eyes)

dinesh kotecha on Saturday, September 08, 2012
Kisi Ke Surkh Lab The Yaa, Diye Ki Lau Machalati Thi Were they ruby red
lips or a flickering flame Jahaan Ki Thi Kabhi Puujaa Vo Mandir Yaad Aate
Hain Where once I worshipped, that temple (of love) I cannot forget Rahe
Aye Shammaa Tu Roshan, Duaa Detaa Hai Paravaanaa May that flame always
remain glowing (her), this moth (himself) prays/blesses Jinhein Qismat Mein
Jalanaa Hai Vo Jal Kar Yaad Aate Hain He that is destined to burn, after
burning will be remembered (cont the moth/flame metaphor)
