my dear desi bro, when we are fans of dear Rafi saab, we listen to such a
better selection of music ... with such a sweet soothing voice ... that not
only do our heart and soul get touched but also our brains develop more
insight and so we learn more things all the time :)

sheddy2005 on Sunday, September 20, 2009
mr mohammed rafi saab is the greatest singer of all time.period!!!

Krishna Paramathma on Saturday, October 10, 2009
Hi coming to Kishoreda. he got 3 awards after Rafi saab's death. Kishore
never got an award during Rafi's high career whereas Rafi saab got an award
in 1977 for Kya hua tera vada. Rafi saab got Padmashree, National award.
Kishore has not got anything other than Filmfare. Accept the fact that
Kishore is not to be compared with a legend like Rafi saab.

Krishna Paramathma on Saturday, October 10, 2009
If then, why did he select Rafi for Kya hua tera Vada, Yamma Yamma, Hum
kisise kam nahin etc., RD knew Kishore cannot sing in high pitches if he
does so he would look like shouting in a bazaar. Pyarelal when asked
Kishore to sing parda he parda kishore accepted that he cannot sing that
song and Rafi is best suited. That shows even Kishore knew he cannot reach
the levels of Rafi . Dont come with some 20-30 songs and say Kishore is
gr8. Go through the entire history of film music and decide.

Krishna Paramathma on Saturday, October 10, 2009
Its not easy to learn classical music just by paying money.. Dont speak
without knowing what it is.

doovle on Saturday, October 10, 2009
Jaane jaan dhondtha hi raha from film Jawani Diwani. Listen to this song
very carefully and then talk about high pitch or whatever else turns you
on. So what that Kishore passed Parda hai parda to Rafi. That could have
been a million reasons but Rafi fans will automaticaly asume because
Kishore was incapable of singing it. Nonsense. I mean Sonu Nigum could have
done a better job on that song than Rafi.

doovle on Saturday, October 10, 2009
Rafi was a trained manufactured singer thats all. Kishore was raw talent, a
one-in-a-billion. A Rafi can come along every so often, it is not difficult
to sound like Rafi. Though try immulating or impressionising Kishore and
you will fall flat on your face.

Krishna Paramathma on Sunday, October 11, 2009
Kishore won 4 awards after Rafi's death. Pl check and that means he won
only 4 during Rafi's regime. Whereas our Rafi saab got 6 plus padmashi plus
National award plus Millenium singer award. Janeja is not in high pitch
buddy its in octv 3 and thats the max. Kishore can take to. Rafi's octave
is right from 0 till 5. Whereas Kishore is from 1-3 mid range. See you are
frustrated to accept the facts and started writing unparliamentary words. I
have won there itself. Not that I hate Kishore,

Krishna Paramathma on Sunday, October 11, 2009
Kishore is very easy to sing and hum. So he is popular. Mohd.Rafi saab is
God's creation which only class people can understand. To know him, you
should know music. I appreciate your loyalty to Kishore but dont compare
him to Rafi saab. They were good friends too.

doovle on Sunday, October 11, 2009
Youre right, i shouldnt compare Kishore to Rafi because Kishore was in his
own league. Like i said, it's not difficult to sound like Rafi. Aziz,
Anwar, Nigum all sound very similar to him. Kishore by far had the most
talent any entertainer singer had inc Rafi. Rafi was a trained manufactured
singer who was pretty one-dimensional where as Kishore's range and
versatility were beyond comparism.

phirmilenge on Sunday, October 11, 2009
Your points are very solid and impressive showing very good knowledge and
understanding. Well done.

phirmilenge on Sunday, October 11, 2009
Very true and insighful comment which I fully agree with.

Krishna Paramathma on Monday, October 12, 2009
Kishore is one of the best singers.. I admit. but why did it take almost
20+ years for him to get one filmfare award and why was he ignored by all
the music directors during 50s and 60s the golden era of music. RD did
create a special profile for him but it was limited to only 4 awards during
Rafi's regime. 4 after his death. Pl accept the facts as I am not fighting
with you like who is great. Your choice is your choice but the facts always
remain in history..

phirmilenge on Monday, October 12, 2009
Again very well said. You have great understanding of music and factual
historical information. Im very impressed.

doovle on Monday, October 12, 2009
See an artist as versatile as Kishore did so many other things other than
just sing. When he started out in the 50's and 60's it was more acting he
specialized in. His schedule must have been pretty hectic. And then he was
banned after he refused a song or something for someone. That didnt help
matters. However... everybody knew just what kind of talent there was
lurking inside of him. And come 1971 when Aradhna came about, it was all
Kishore ! You are correct, facts always remain in history.

Krishna Paramathma on Tuesday, October 13, 2009
I should commend you being a diehard fan of Kishoreda. We at baar baar rafi
have paid tribute to him today posting songs on our groups. Kishore was
banned in 1976 when he declined Sanjay Gandhi's offer and not during 60s.
Nobody except RDB gave him the chance to sing and it happened only after
Aradhana. Kishore never did many other things in 50-60s but kept on singing
for himself. It was only for Devanand he used to sing. That remains as
history and Rafi saab is miles ahead of him. bye

phirmilenge on Tuesday, October 13, 2009
Very correct. Mainly SDB and KK himself boosted KK before 69 and then RDB
afterwards. KK was banned from AIR for sometime during emergency like you
said. For 5 years 70-75 KK did share top spot with Rafi saab so thats a
great accomplishment for anyone but KK-fans should not exaggerate so much
by saying he was better than Rafi saab. They should listen to most recent
Manna Dey youtube clip where he says again Rafi saab was the greatest ever
... he was entire gharana-khandaan of music by himself.

Krishna Paramathma on Tuesday, October 13, 2009
Hi Ekdesiandy, I am meeting Mannadey this friday. I am feeling the most
luckiest and shall definitely discuss with him about our beloved Rafi saab.
I will get back on this forum on what he says. Doovle is Kishore fan and
does not know that Aradhana was released in 1969. 1971 it was Amarprem,
Sharmilee, Kati Patang and other movies which had Kishore hits. All of them
had Burman music (SDB and RDB). Laxmi-pyare were forced to take Kishore and
so did Kalyanji-Anandji later.. to be cont..

Krishna Paramathma on Tuesday, October 13, 2009
Rishi Kapoor 's was down during 1976 and the producer of the movie Laila
Majnu wanted Kishoreda to sing the songs. It was the great Madan Mohan who
just bent upon taking Rafi saab for the movie and c the history. All the
songs were hit. Rishi kapoor then decided to have one song of Rafi for
every movie of his. Then came Yaadon Ki baraat, Amar Akbar Antony.. No
return for Rafi saab from then till his death. He won filmfare and also
National award in 1977 and 78 respectively.. to be continued

doovle on Tuesday, October 13, 2009
I am a die-hard Kishore fan and always will be, yet, i always try to remain
unbiased when facts need to be told. I agree rafi was superb, a true
virtuoso as he was dubbed. Some of his songs are to die for. yet, he
didnt have as much versatility as Kishore, no-way. Kishore sounded
different in every song he sang, yet to me Rafi sounded similar. Kishore
not only sang the song, he acted it. That is the almighty difference
between the two. Oh yes and my mistake, Aradhna was 1969.

phirmilenge on Tuesday, October 13, 2009
Dear murtyji please do let me know how it is goes. I have deep respect for
the great living legend Manna Dey. So very fortunate indeed to meet him.
Best wishes to you. Hope to hear about this soon.

Nadeem Ahmad on Sunday, October 18, 2009
doovle sahab, for ur kind information, rafi is d most versatile singer in
bollywood. nobody can sing like hime. his voice is a most recorded voice 4
different type singing like qawwali, ghazal, romantic and sad song, bhajan,
deshbhakti songs etc. just listen d songs of rafi, then u will find that
rafi is not only better than kishor but also from all singers. he was first
choice of all musicians like naushad, laxmi-pyare, shanker-jaikishan, madan
mohan, s.d.burman, ravi, o.p.nayyar, madan mohan .

Nadeem Ahmad on Sunday, October 18, 2009
doovie ji i agree wid u that kishor was no. 1 playback singer after aradhna
but rafi was no.1 play back singer in 1950 to 1970. and also he was no. 1
playback singer from 1997 till his death by removing to kishor after
releasing kya hua tera vaada. r.d. burman has given more chance to rafi
than kishor after this super hit song

doovle on Sunday, October 18, 2009
Any music director or film producer knew Kishore's voice would sell more.
Rafi was good no doubt but it was the voice of Kishore most actors wanted
as their playback, ie Bachchan, Khanna. And after Aradhna came around Rafi
became a fading star. Kishore was 10 times more versatile than Rafi.

Nadeem Ahmad on Tuesday, November 03, 2009
doovle ji, bollywooda not only havea.bacchan and rajesh khanna as an
actor, rafi sang songs 4 more no. of actors as campare to kk. he was
approached more no. of musicians. rafi sang more no. of songs than kishor n
won more no. of awards. rafi is only singer who sang songs 4 kk. so i think
is it enough to proove that rafi is more popular, more versatile n most
recorded voice of bollywood.

Nadeem Ahmad on Tuesday, November 03, 2009
who says that r.d. burman did not get rafi. have u listen kya hua tera
vaada. this is only one songs of r.d.burman 4 which any singer won film
fair and national filmfair award that is only rafi sahab. this is a most
popular songscomposed by r.d. burmen. after this songs r.d. burman gave
more chance to rafi than kishor. and rafi once again was no. 1 playback
singer. rafi ki voice sabhi actors pe suit karti h but kishor voice
bhikariyon pe bhi suit nahi karti its like fata hua baans

tasveeeren on Saturday, December 12, 2009
The chap doesn't know the exact meaning of the word 'versatile'. Should go
to school and start from nursery.

Soumya Parida on Friday, December 18, 2009
reading the comments below.. I can surely say.. none of you guys would be
great as Rafi or Kishore, in the next seven lives.. Great people do the
work, and leave it for the world to enjoy.. not call names and give
derogatory remarks.. I firmly believe, both are comparable, tried to like
and decide who is better, but seriously no one can.. Just enjoy their
work.. and they dont need your certification for being great...

doovle on Sunday, April 11, 2010
FACT.kishore was and always will be more popular than rafi

Ajnabhi21 on Sunday, April 11, 2010
@doovle looks like somebody needs to do their research again then..because you do not seem to have a clue! :-)

jackiebhaiyya on Thursday, July 01, 2010
hearing KUMAR SANU after the great KISHORE KUMAR is like after u bath in a
clean water, dipping yourself in a muddy & diluted water.

jackiebhaiyya on Thursday, July 01, 2010
hey guys.indeed rafi was a god gifted voice a master in a classical songs
Kishore was incomparable to rafi.but never forget kishore never had a
learning of so-called course of singing.wtever he did he did it on his
own.emerged his own style.popularity wise rafi was never a inch near to
kishore.the big difference is whn rafi started singing there was no
competition except mukesh who was diff kind of singer altogether.70s to
late 80s kishore was so popular tht rafi was almost out of the scene.

jackiebhaiyya on Thursday, July 01, 2010
some guys may address kishore wtever they want like donkey bans etc(it
doesnt make a diff coz they are jealous...cant help it tho) check the
binaca geet mala countdown prg...out of 20 songs 12 to 15 used to b
kishores songs.now also remixes r made with kk songs mostly.most downloads
r done for kk songs.hw many clones like kumar sanu, abhijeet are in business
only coz of kk.rafis voice suited mainly shammi kapoor bt kk,s
amitabh,rajesh.dev anand,mithun,shatru,anil jackie,shashi,rishi..

Mishal Ali Bhutta on Friday, August 13, 2010
@jackiebhaiyya very well put. I dont understand why people consider kumar
sanu in the same league as Kishareda and Rafi sahb. They were unique!

Clement surajpal on Thursday, October 28, 2010
amid all the gripe, Rafi saab and kishore da were very good friends. I love
rafi. some people love kk. you take your pick. it is obvious that rafi saab
in his time, could not be surpassed! he even sang for kk in many films. now
beat that? But i do not think that we should worry ourselves about
poularity. let enjoy the voices and the songs that these gentlemen left for
us before our time is up. life is too precious to waste time being
embroiled in a poulartity contest! God bless!

Clement surajpal on Thursday, October 28, 2010
mr DakuGabbar, I hope that you do not plan to invade my gaon. anyway, you
are entitled to your opionion. I do not like kumar sanu. his nakhsar is so
obvious in his renditions. but i cannot hold it against you that your
feelings for him is such. i think that KK is by far a better vocalist than
KS, but thats my belief. there is nothing wrong in disagreeing among our
selves with respect to what we like our dislike. it is human. but we must
be careful when we attempt to contrast. leave alone!

dptxp on Thursday, February 03, 2011
@aslam123m, you are right. Singers like Rafi Sahab come once in a
life-time. Greats as KK, Lataji, Manna Dey and even Mukesh (senior to Rafi
Sahab) all respected Rafi Sahab, both as a singer par-excellence and a
great human being. I find it difficult to see some people making very
distasteful comments here, even use foul language. Like said by
zindagirafi, Rafi Sahab and KK were very good friends.

labeeb241 on Sunday, April 10, 2011
@jackiebhaiyya Popularity has nothing to do with Quality. Rafi was never
out of scene, except for few years of early 70's when he himself took rest.
Kishore is no doubt among legends of indian music but not to compare him
with Rafi, Manna, Talat ... even Mukesh. He is a beloved singer indeed.

labeeb241 on Sunday, April 10, 2011
@jackiebhaiyya Binaca geet mala was not there in 40s, 50s and 60s. Remix
are not made of classical based songs rather tappori songs, and we have
also remixes made of Rafi songs. Clones like Kumar Sanu and Abhijeet are no
longer in the industry but Sonu nigam , Uddit and Shan are still there.
Rafi was suited to Shammi only? You need to educate yourself more about
it. A person is not asked to sing for 35 years if his voice suites one
or few actors btw.

labeeb241 on Sunday, April 10, 2011
@TonyMohanty Many movies got success because of Rafi sb. songs, same is
with Lata jee but you wont find few tagged with other singers.

labeeb241 on Sunday, April 10, 2011
@doovle Versatile means??? :P And u r talking only about five years of
Indian film industry :(

labeeb241 on Sunday, April 10, 2011
@doovle Then u must come out of this myth. You just listen more and more
and then u will realize and convinced :)

labeeb241 on Sunday, April 10, 2011
@doovle All above shows how LEARNED you are about music. Filmfare award is
not an award but popularity campaign. I strongly protest the criteria of
this award, u can discuss with me year wise and i will tell u how other
songs of that same year were much much better than the one for which award
was given, regardless of singer. The other thing u r talking about is
voice, its natural gift and Kishore had a beautiful voice no doubt which
helped him to cover other aspects of singing as well.

labeeb241 on Sunday, April 10, 2011
@doovle If u say Rafi sounded like child, thin and weak and Kishore was
soft and gentle, then u r biased in your comments. Singin with loud voice
is different from singing in high notes. Even I can sing easily Jaane jaan
dhoondta hoon tujhe... Please listen more and more, it is not like having
personal issue with you as i am not just a Rafi fan but Kishore's also.
Being fan of someone and liking someone more than other is different and
criticising and giving expert comments is different.

labeeb241 on Sunday, April 10, 2011
@kmurty8509 Kishore is great and Rafi sb. is greatest :) U r right and to
add more, i must say that singing with loud voice is different from singing
in high notes.
