Geeta Dutt is the Best!!!

Geeta just at the end of her life, rendered another Gem that is
this...

i dont know if its true - but some say she had already decided to end her life when she sung this. that added a further dimension to the song here

wwwgeetaduttcom on Tuesday, March 23, 2010
This is not so true. She was struggling but was not down and out. Geeta ji
recorded 2 non-film Bengali songs in the year 1971 during Pooja times. They
were fairly successful and she was scheduled to record some more songs in
the year 1972 as well. Her health was not keeping well and finally she
succumbed on 20th July of 1972.

RealMusicKing on Wednesday, April 28, 2010
Guru and Geeta both drank themselves to death. Guru in 1964 and Geeta in 1972.

What a song !! There is so much expression in the song.

I can almost see Geeta Dutt smiling with a twinkle in her eyes while singing the lines ...

nice and lovely song. great song for relaxing

Geeta Dutt died very young. So did Guru Dutt who died at the age of 39.
Madhubala died at the age of 36, Meena Kumari died at the age of 39. We
should learn to respect our actors, they are not an object of lust. Actors
should manage their life well. They should learn to handle glamour. Many
actors and actresses have died a lonely death, so glamour must be taken in
right perspective.

One of the most hauntingly beautiful songs ever! The fact that wonderful
Geeta died soon after recording this song, makes this an even more poignant
experience.

Such songs give words to one's feelings. I wanted to say something similar
to my beloved but was not finding the exact expression.

it is tragic to know the circumsstances surrounding the singer at the time
she sang this song,GURU DUTT her husband had comitted suicide at age of
39,because of another actress and Geeta Dutt died of cirrhosis due to heavy
drinking at 42 .this was her last song & she died before film was released

but she did record it in the studio!

Excellent composition. Sanjeev Kumar and Tanuja look so beautiful on screen. Black & White movies had their own charm when it had a melodious song in it. Excellent

tom sawyer on Wednesday, August 29, 2012
lata mangeskar sure is technically better than geeta dutt but the warmth ,
geeta dutt had is so alluring than the shrieks and high pitched rendition
of lata mangeshkar...

Incomparable in every which way. The lyrics invite the blessed listener to
descend into unfathomable depths of the heart.

catch699 on Saturday, September 28, 2013
Umm, Tanuja Mukherjee, nee Tanuja Samarth. See Wikipedia. Bong or Ghati,
she was sweet, but ultimately never in the same league as her sister (and
yes, I'm talking about the breathtakingly beautiful and immensely talented
Nutan) And what does any of that have to do with Geeta Dutt's beautiful
rendition of this incredible composition?

Adinath Kamode on Tuesday, October 01, 2013
Excellent...
