This is a beautiful version of Ave Maria but, it cannot compare to it being sung by Aaron Neville, in the movie, Alive. God bless the people that were still alive and able to share what happened all of those days in the cold. They are truly the blessed ones.

MillTrojanMeAgain on Sunday, March 13, 2011
This song brings me peace.

Mee51 on Sunday, March 13, 2011
It's beautiful, a wonderful voice, well done! Congratulations. I loved it.

Lord, wipe away the tears of those who are weeping, fuel the strength of those who are dying and give hope to those who are losing it.

Schönes Lied. Schreckliches DEUTSCH.
Schuster bleib bei deinen Sohlen.

@MMKursch
Interesting. If you define religion as man's attempt to reach God, and also take into consideration Beethoven's quote about music being the mediator between the physical and spiritual realms, then there is something to it. However, music of a certain religion is tilted to bring you closer to God in the tradition of that religion (this being for monotheism, "gods" for polytheism), so it is an instrument, so to speak, for reaching God in that certain way.

DaAbsolutDa on Monday, March 14, 2011
@MMKursch Grew up in a family of classical musicians??? you are soo lucky :) I wish my family was like yours :P

salahhe on Monday, March 14, 2011
Maybe if it were not in German but one of the melodious languages...

salahhe on Monday, March 14, 2011
@IntoTheMystical Oh, I thought it was in Latin. Searching for the lyrics I only found Latin, no German. You might be right but that doesn't make it less bad.

mclovin01021 on Monday, March 14, 2011
Over 9 milllion views in 1 vid nice bro !!!!!! :)

greentea1494 on Monday, March 14, 2011
@TripBoomLikeThat I'm not trolling. I was just saying that this song was from the videogame and movie Hitman. I wasn't trying to be disrespectful. My bad.

rithem412 on Tuesday, March 15, 2011
@tantawi1992 - No, it's more like I like music because of the music, not because of the ideologies it embodies. For example, I can think the national anthem of the PRC is a great tune but that doesn't necessarily mean I am a Communist sympathizer..

brookieviv on Tuesday, March 15, 2011
@MMKursch Amen! (coming from an atheist) =)

stinkyshitass on Tuesday, March 15, 2011
@godzisz123
Hallo, ist doch sehr schön gesungen, keinen Akzent zu hören, zumindest für mich.
In diesem Fall stimmt "Schuster bleib bei deinen LEISTEN!" nicht. Lg

magdalena8475 on Tuesday, March 15, 2011
Beautiful ! I haven"t got any words to say!

666feng666 on Tuesday, March 15, 2011
can't but think of the west wing episode "the crackpots and these women" where this plays in josh's office when cj and he have the discussion about the fragility of life. how appropriate. only in an aaron sorkin show.

ealf65 on Wednesday, March 16, 2011
@MMKursch if that is your case, you still can appreciate the beauty of the composition aside from its intended meaning.

helenwallder on Wednesday, March 16, 2011
This song always made my mum cry because it was her father's (my grandfather) favourite song. I always loved it but this is the version that has reduced me to tears. It is sublimely beautiful. I don't speak German so it's not the words but the music and the singer's amazing voice. Who is the singer?

ReccaDreamer on Wednesday, March 16, 2011
I love this song. It's one of my top favorite opera/classical music songs.
@helenwallder: this is not German, it is latin. :)

MrSuperman216 on Wednesday, March 16, 2011
@BreaktheChainsofFate YES!!!!!! Someone other than me notices.
Sadly, that video was the sole reason i went searching for this song. Wish I found it earlier.

nightwishandtheopera on Wednesday, March 16, 2011
@ReccaDreamer no, its german :-) x

PWK007 on Thursday, March 17, 2011

@MMKursch good thing you know how to spell agnostic :)) but other people see it differently; to each his own.

tool404 on Thursday, March 17, 2011
I would have this woman sing this at my wedding if I could.

mehowee on Thursday, March 17, 2011
Ideal song to have for your funeral. Or just before you die. Very touching!

MMKursch on Thursday, March 17, 2011
@thisnameistotallybad English isn't my language, I'm actually Scandinavian.

newgeneral01 on Thursday, March 17, 2011

Robert33881 on Saturday, March 19, 2011
1st comment obviously made by an OPERA SNOB! Truly obnoxious people with no genuine aesthetic sensibility or understanding! Best female rendition ALEXANDRA IVANOFF (in Prizzi's Honor) or NANA MOUSKOURI This isn't as good, BUT WAY BETTER THAN M CALLAS, WHO'S GOTTEN WAY MORE CREDIT THAN SHE EVER DESERVED! So there, OPERA SNOB!!!

Robert33881 on Saturday, March 19, 2011
To that brilliant individual who starts out "hey dufus" CAN'T YOU READ??? I SAID NANA WAS BETTER! I REFUSE TO ARGUE FURTHER WITH SOMEONE WHO IS EITHER ILLITERATE, DRUNK, OR CRAZY!!!

01hulu on Saturday, March 19, 2011
this song is even better when you understand and believe the truth about Maria...Ofa atu Malia...Please pray for me and my family...

masonbarge on Saturday, March 19, 2011
Angelic! It doesn't sound anything like Maria Callas to me :)

TripBoomLikeThat on Saturday, March 19, 2011
@Robert33881 How about giving us a link to "Nana" singing Ellens dritter Gesang, this song, so we can all enjoy it.

LatinaMN on Sunday, March 20, 2011
Gave me goosebumps, beautiful

DarkSoliderX666 on Sunday, March 20, 2011
the only good thing that came out of religion, the music. lmao

davidlaki on Sunday, March 20, 2011
you have the longest caption on your video. LOL but good music, indeed

Rustina61 on Sunday, March 20, 2011
A perfect song to listen to when discouraged, depressed, worried, angry, whatever the feeling are. It's like listening to the angels sing.

holarmstrong on Monday, March 21, 2011
Ok, then if you are sincere- who IS this? You can't regale a Nightingales song unless you disclose who the song-bird its.

injinerconev on Monday, March 21, 2011
@jewelmarkess Still it's good that knowledge stopped coming out of The Church :)

Robert33881 on Monday, March 21, 2011
OK I offended some people. The only recording I ever heard of Callas was here on this site, and I have DEFINITELY heard better than THAT, if indeed it was a fake. You are not in a position to say I have no aesthetic sensibility if it really is fake and I admit that I had not heard heard elsewhere. I think probably my ear is as good as yours; no reason to think otherwise. Opera snobs DO EXIST!

ndread85 on Monday, March 21, 2011
@ongolos no, ave maria was written for this movie. schubert could see into the future using the Apple of Eden. you are wrong. wrong wrong wrong.

ongolos on Monday, March 21, 2011
@IntoTheMystical oh ok thanks, yeah I thought so, XD, great song ! u have any other like it?

farr0222 on Monday, March 21, 2011
