Rajinder Singh Bedi and Majrooh was best friends and Majrooh saab dedicate
his book to Rajinder Singh Bedi that's a long story.
Madan Mohan who literally made what is Lata today by his poignant music
which he made only for Lata and Lata justified all his Ghazals by singing
in her equally mesmerizing voice.
For someone who has difficultly understands this pure Urdu words.
mataa e koocha o bazaar ki tarha ---Meaning the items which sells in the
streets.
Majrooh is describing the plea of Woman who are in Khotas..Where they are
treated as some items which sells in streets and every man look at them
like buyers.
The other lyrics are easy to understand.

A truly classic touch. A song sustain its own empowering beauty cause its sang by our golden legend Lata Mangeskar ji. The essences and the beauty of this music and sad sentiments somehow carries its own charm like a bitter or sweet flavors. I am just so very enchanted and so attracted with this whole soft, mellow, classic tune of this very special song. Sadly we don't get to hear this kind of songs these days. Sadness brings out the bast from Lata Jee, Madan Mohan Jee and Majrooh, who
mentions himself.. " Majrooh likh rahe hain vo ahle-wafaa ka naam.. Hum bhi
khade hua hai gunahgaar ki tarah.." WAH WAH SUBHANALLAH Such a JOY Where
will we find such joy in sadness. My heartfelt thanks for this upload. This
film does not have re-runs on TV, and I got to see the song after maybe 20
years

It is not a good translation (there is another one already posted), but
that is how I felt after watching this clip. 'We are like the commodities,
everyone is shopping around. Love is gone, but the ghost of memories are
haunting. While the good ones are counted, we are standing like the sinners
(rejected ones)". Reminds me of Guru Dutt a lot.
